How Secure Is Your Data

Of paramount importance is the security of the communications being delivered and managed. RAPID PTT provides unrivalled security at all phases with AES 256 rolling encryption at the core of all voice communication transmission.

DATA SECURITY

3 STATES OF DATA
REF DATA TYPE DESCRIPTION EXAMPLE DATA SECURITY
1 IN USE Active data under constant change stored physically in database Server configurations User configurations - Passwords are hashed with bcrypt
- IMEIs are encrypted with AES 128
2 IN MOTION Data that is traversing/being exchanged in a network Voice transmissions - HTTPS
- AES-128
- AES-256 (rolling key)
3 AT REST Stored data Voice recordings - Stored on Amazon S3 (configurable time period)
- RAPID PTT compressed format
- AES 256 (server wide)

What is AES 256?

AES stands for Advanced Encryption Standard. 256 refers to a data/file encryption technique that uses a 256-bit key to encrypt and decrypt data or files. It is one of the most secure encryption methods and is the advanced version of other previous methods, (128- and 192-bit encryption) and is used in most modern encryption algorithms, protocols, and technologies including AES and SSL.

How hard is it to crack AES 256?

Breaking a symmetric 256-bit key by brute force requires 2128 times more computational power than a 128-bit key. Fifty supercomputers that could check a billion (1018) AES keys per second (if such a device could ever be made) would, in theory, require about 3×1051 years to exhaust the 256-bit key space.
